Is LunchTrak Back?
Iām back šš
Siqore texted me yesterday asking about my progress with LunchTrak, and whether I was ready to take some next steps. To be fully honest, I wanted to weasel my way out of it by saying something like "Oh, I'm taking a break" or something similar, but they were persistent. When I told them that Bluetooth may not be the best solution, they suggested UWB and then asked whether we could talk over the phone. Coming off of my really nervous interview about Mr. Paley, I was scared, but I agreed. 10 minutes later I was on a call with Mark and Yuri.
The Call
Having pitched LunchTrak probably a hundred times already, explaining the gist of it was pretty easy, so I felt prepared. I then explained why Bluetooth wasn't the best solution because there's variation in signal strength and it isn't good when in a backpack. They responded by saying that their clients used Atmosic chips for asset tracking and it was perfectly fine, but agreed that having it in the backpack was tricky.
Both people were really nice and were willing to help brainstorm some ideas to solve my issues. I'm actually really excited to get back into LunchTrak, and it's refreshing to know I'm being productive again. Part of me wants to write about it in my college essay, but this is not why I'm doing it. I am kinda nervous about college apps though. Regardless, there is a hard deadline soon because I will be graduating and will therefore not be physically present to debug and work with PAUSD (unless of course...)
Next Steps
Am I going back in? I hope so, and I hope that I can think about expanding the product to other use cases, not just the lunch line. Also, having it be a mobile app would make life a lot easier for the students, which might be an important requirement.
Dylan, please tell me that you didn't waste your senior year. This is your last year where you can start a "business" and everyone will support you because you are young. Also have fun and enjoy it. Isn't it crazy?
